Office of the Vice President for Research

The Office of the Vice President for Research coordinates research throughout the University. The office handles applications for research funding, coordinates strategic areas of research focus, and tracks guidelines and regulations governing research.

Office of Sponsored Projects

The Office of Sponsored Projects coordinates externally funded research projects. The office assists faculty and professional research staff in their efforts to secure funding from foundations, corporations, government agencies, and other sponsors.

Office of Technology Commercialization

The Office of Technology Commercialization is a bridge between the University's research community and commercialization partners.

EUREKA!™

EUREKA!™ features an online directory of research interests for UT Austin’s 2,500 faculty and research scientists. Visitors to the site can search by keyword or faculty name to find interests and current projects in a wide range of disciplines.

IC2 Institute

The IC2 Institute is a strategic center for technology commercialization at The University of Texas at Austin. The institute links technology, entrepreneurship, and education to foster sustainable social and economic development around the world.

Austin Technology Incubator

ATI is a technical-business incubator and has graduated 65 companies that have generated $1.2 billion in revenue and created 2,850 jobs in central Texas.

  • UT Austin generates more than $6 billion in business activity in Texas and creates more than 80,000 jobs and more than $2 billion in personal income annually.

  • UT has received more than 400 patents, the licensing of which generates more than $11 million in revenue annually.

  • The National Research Council ranks seven UT doctoral programs in the top 10 in the nation and 22 departments in the top 25. In the same survey of Texas schools, UT ranks No. 1 in 30 of the 37 fields in which it was evaluated.

  • UT sponsored seven national start-up companies in 2007-2008.
