Online Mendelian Inheritance in Man

OMIM is the most extensive data base of human genetic traits. It is an important tool for geneticists worldwide. It is maintained by the National Center for Biotechnology Information, the National Library of Medicine, National Institutes of Health, in Bethesda, MD. OMIM is constantly updated to incorporate the latest information. It also has links to other major genetics databases.

Alliance of Genetic Support Groups

This site contains a list with links of a very large number of support organizations, most of which are identified with specific genetic disorders.

More than you ever imagined you wanted to know about Mendel. But it's a great site. Check it out!

Primer on Molecular Genetics (Department of Energy)

This very basic introduction to DNA, gene structure, and gene action is well illustrated and should be good for review.

Genetics Education Center, UKMC

The Genetics Education Center of the University of Kansas Medical Center provides many links to educational materials and services.

The On-line Medical Dictionary

This dictionary, maintained by CancerWeb in the UK, is an excellent resource for definitions of technical words whose meanings may be a bit obscure.

The Oxford English Dictionary

OED is the ultimate general dictionary. Even geneticists must look up nontechnical words occasionally to be sure of the exact meaning and spelling. Use this link for all your courses.
