Welcome to the home page of the 1998-99 Policy Research Project on "Sustainable Water Management for the Paso del Norte Border Region." This is a project of the LBJ School of Public Affairs, University of Texas at Austin. Project support comes from the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration, Office of Sustainable Development, U.S. Department of Commerce and the Hewlett Foundation. The project team studies water policy and management in the Paso del Norte--a subbasin of the Rio Grande/Río Bravo extending from Southern New Mexico (Elephant Butte Reservoir) to Fort Quitman, Texas. The twin border cities of El Paso and Cd. Juárez are at the heart of the study region. You find details on the project in the pages listed at left.
