FR 604 Accelerated First-Year French

French 604 is a four-skills language course in which you will learn about French-speaking cultures around the world, as well as develop the ability to hear, speak, read, and write French. This class is accelerated and covers in one semester the first two beginning French courses (506 and 507) at The University of Texas at Austin. No previous knowledge of the language is assumed. However, since lots of material must be learned in one semester, the course is rigorous and may occasionally seem overwhelming. However, I will be available to assist all students. I want you to learn as much French as possible and gain the confidence to use what you have learned.

FR 320E Advanced French I: Written Emphasis (Grammar review and heavy emphasis on improving writing skills)

The main goal of this course is to help students improve their written and oral skills in French through a variety of assignments. We shall also review some French grammar. Students can expect to refine their knowledge of French grammar, increase their vocabulary, and learn to speak and write French more effectively. Despite an emphasis on writing, FR 320E is a four-skills course, and French will be spoken in class. Since lots of material must be covered in one semester, the course is rigorous and may occasionally seem overwhelming. However, I will be available to assist all students.

FR 322E Advanced French II: Oral Emphasis (Vocabulary building and emphasis on improving one's French speaking skills)

The purpose of this course is to help you increase your French vocabulary and improve your spoken French. I will be available to assist all students. I want you to learn as much French as possible and gain the confidence to use what you have learned.

I will not be teaching FR 322E this semester.

FS 301 Getting the MOST out of College

This course will provide insights and information that should help first-year students avoid bureaucratic entanglements and stumbling blocks that can get in the way of academic achievement. Other goals are to learn the unwritten rules for academic success, to gain the confidence necessary to work through the system, and to enjoy the experience of obtaining an enriching, high-quality education.

I will not be teaching FS 301 this semester.
