Your grade will be based on several assignments, weighted as follows:
| Essays (3@ 40 pts each) | 40% | 120 |
| Exams (2 at 30 points each) | 20% | 60 |
| Minutes (10 at 3 points each) | 10% | 30 |
| Portfolio (1 at 90 points) | 30% | 90 |
| Total: | 100% | 300 |
Grades are calculated on this point system based on the weight of assignments and exams as shown above. At semester's end, your points will be converted to your letter grade:
| A | 170-300 |
| B | 240-269 |
| C | 210-239 |
| D | 180-209 |
| F | 150-179 |
Extra Credit: There will be several opportunities for students in class
to participate in extra credit activities. Some will be group participation
projects announced by the instructor others will be more individual
in nature concerning speaker series or TV specials. The instructor
will
announce extra credit opportunities in class. Each extra credit
opportunity will enable students to earn 1 or 2 extra credit points.
No student may receive more than 3 extra credit points on her
or his final grade.
