Mediation

Mediation is a process in which an impartial third party- a mediator- facilitates the resolution of a dispute by promoting voluntary agreement by the parties disputing. A mediator facilitates communication, promotes understanding, focuses the parties on their interests and seeks creative problem solving to enable the parties to reach their own agreement. There is no charge for the clinic's services, even for non-UT students.

Individual Consultation

Mediators at the Clinic provide individual students with a framework for analyzing a current conflict and deciding on a plan of response. Facilitators do not give advice and are not responsible for evaluating the conflict or the plan. Mediators guide the student through an assessment of the conflict and various action plans of response.

Team Action Plan

The Clinic also offers services for student organizations and clubs in which two neutral co-facilitators participate in a meeting to help the group communicate more efficiently.
