Normal Forms

A database is said to be in K^th normal form if it satisfies the first K rules. So, no, a database that satisfies the 2^nd and 3^rd rules, but violates the most important rule, is not in 2NF and 3NF. In order to be in 2NF, the database must satisfy the 1^st and 2^nd rules. In order to be in 3NF, it must satisfy all three rules.
