CC 303/352: Classical Mythology
Guidelines for Test I: Sept. 27, 2001
- Be sure to bring a blue book to the test on Thursday.
- If you need to make up the test because of Yom Kippur, please
talk to me by the end of class on Tuesday, Sept. 25.
- Your test will have three parts:
- A: 5 very brief essay questions, from which you must choose 4.
Questions are drawn from Hesiod's Theogony and chapters 4-8
of Powell's textbook, and our discussion of same. Each of these
questions requires both that you know the relevant myths and that
you can apply ideas we have discussed in class to an analysis of
those myths. Each of these esssays will be worth 10 points.
- B: A longer essay question in which you will need to explain
one of the schools of interpreting myth and use it to analyze
myths. This essay is worth 30 points.
- C: A longer essay on Euripides' Hippolytus. This essay
is worth 30 points.
- Please see Sonia, Brandy or me with any questions you may
have.
