II. Briefly explain how the Sumerian myth involving Enki and Ki compares with the Greco-Roman myth of the creation of humans.
III. Describe three elements of Zeus' domain (i.e., what he is in charge of) and explain why Zeus is likely to have acquired these elements in his domain.
IV. Explain the myth of Hermes' first day as presented in the Homeric Hymn to Hermes using the terms of Jungian psychology. Defend your conclusions with specific examples from the myth.
V. Though she is associated with chastity, Artemis may have begun as a goddess of fertility. Explain why this is the case.
B. Explain how the principle of aetiology works as a tool for interpreting myths. Then choose two (2) myths we have studied this semester that you think are best explained as aetiology, and explain why you think the "aetiological" school can help us to understand these myths (30 points).
C. Identify three ways in which an awareness of the nature of the Greek theater and Greek tragedy can help us understand Euripides' Hippolytus. Defend your conclusions with specific examples from the play. (30 points)
