Sample Quizzes

One of our most important objectives in CMS319 is to provide you with the information that you need to become an excellent commuicator in a variety of business and professional contexts. Assigned readings and class discussions give you essential information necessary to both understand conceptually and develop the skills associated with effective business and professional communication. Effective communication requires knowledge of all of the factors that affect it. And, to assess your knowledge and understanding of these factors, we will administer three quizzes (one per Unit) during the semester.

Three multiple-choice quizzes covering readings in your text will be given over the course of the semester. Worth a total of 60 points, the quizzes will cover the following material:

Quiz 1: Chapters 1, 2, 5, 13, 14
Quiz 2: Chapters 10, 11, 6, 12
Quiz 3: Chapters 15, 4, 7

(A comprehensive final exam covering required reading assignments and class lectures will be given during the final exam period.)

In order to provide you with the opportunity to "practice" your knowledge of the course material in CMS319, we have supplied links to sample quizzes for each of the three units. These were actual quizzes given in a previous semester, and should give you a sense of the kinds of questions that you will be expected to be able to answer. You will note that most of the questions are "application" or scenario questions--not questions that require straight memorization. You should adjust your preparation style accordingly. Each question includes the page number where the answer can be found in your text.

PLEASE NOTE: These samples are provided to you as a courtesy--to give you the opportunity to see examples of the kinds of questions that we have asked in the past. These samples ARE NOT comprehensive, nor do they represent ALL of the information that you are required to know for the quizzes. Simply memorizing these answers or studying these particular concepts will not adequately prepare you for the scope of information that you are expected to know for the quizzes. (Questions asked, and material asked about,  vary from semester to semester.) UTILIZE THE STUDY GUIDE IN YOUR COURSEPACKET TO PREPARE FOR THE QUIZZES AND FINAL EXAM.
