OUTSIDE ASSIGNMENTS:

You are expected to do three interviews (see attached forms) which will comprise 20% of your course grade. Interviews which are handed in by the due date will start with an "A" but will be graded down if they suffer any of the following problems:

The overall idea of this assignment is for you to get exposure to the experiences and beliefs of other people in such a way that it helps you reflect on and sort through your own beliefs. Interviews which are not turned in during the class period they are due but which are turned in within a week of the due date will start with a "C+" and, like those turned in on time, will be graded down for any of the problems previously stated. Interviews which cannot be verified (the interviewee cannot be reached or states he/she was not interviewed) will receive an "F".

You should follow the instructions on each interview sheet and record the answers given to you. DO NOT simply give the interview sheet to someone and tell them to fill it out. This does not constitute an interview. In most cases, you will want to add questions and probes that are not on the interview sheet in order to learn more about the interviewee's beliefs, but only answers to the questions listed need to be recorded. Please staple interviews with two pages. In order to do an "A" interview, you are advised not to put it off until the last minute.

Interview #l - Due Sept 9, 1999 (Note: You do Option l or Option 2, not both)
Interview #2 - Due Oct 5, 1999
Interview #3 - Due Dec 2, 1999
