Many groups found the boxes and arrows didn’t help them remember the words associated with them.  In fact, these groups usually were able to accurately recall the boxes in the first place!  What might have worked better for them are cues that specifically addressed the words- the first letter of each word, a list of the words to be used, etc.

Part II

Identify each memory type.  (Because there were questions about this one, I added the page number from the book that discusses each question)

  1. Has a limited capacity of about 7 items Working (page 188)
  2. Consists of networks of stored information Long-term (page 192)
  3. There is one for each type of stimulus sense Sensory (page 180)
  4. Interference and decay causes the loss of information

Arguments could be made in favor of any of the types- Long-term (class), Working (page 190), Sensory (180)

  1. Chunking increases capacity Working (page 188)
  2. Information must be consciously stored Long-term (page 211)
