Exercise A:

Concept Building with Introduction of New Vocabulary


     The teacher wants to prepare students for the significant issues in "Draußen vor der Tür" by introducing the concepts "der Krieg, wahr/nicht wahr, leben/nicht leben (tot)."  The students are asked to identify whether a statement is true (wahr) or false.  Pictures may be used or students may hear about historical figures and be asked if they are "lebendig" or "tot," fought a war or not, or were responsible for that war.  Typical sentences they see or hear would be:

ANTWORT: Wahr oder nicht wahr?

1) President Clinton lebt.

2) Nach einem Krieg sind viele Menschen tot.
