Paper assignment 1
This paper is due February 11th, not Feb. 4th as noted in the syllabus. Please write a web essay of about 700-1000 words on the following subject: the worldwide web contains many thousands of documents dealing with archaeology. Based on your introductory browsing through these documents, how would you characterize or categorize the range of subjects dealt with? Are there common denominators in the subjects addressed or the authors writing about them? Are there ways in which archaeology as it is portrayed on the web is really different from what appears in traditional print sources?
Your paper should include links to examples of what you are talking about. Graphics aren't necessary, but certainly ok if you want to try working with them. One-thousand words is about 3 double spaced pages if you typed it out.
Please turn in your paper in one of the following ways:
give me a copy of the HTML document on a (well labeled) disk, along with a printed out copy from your web browser. send me a copy of the HTML document as an "attachment" to an email message, and hand in a printed copy from your web browser in class. give me the URL for your document, if it is on the web someplace. Also, hand in a printed copy in class.
