Traveling to Sirena Station, Corcovado National Park

The information presented below for tourists and researchers visiting Corcovado National Park was updated June 1999. Rules concerning tourists may be different from those for researchers, and different stations within the park may have alternate policies. Please remember that rules are subject to change without notice and we may not have the most current ones.

Reservations

    1. Call the tourism office in Puerto Jimenez (735-5036 phone, 735-5276 FAX) during working hours to make initial reservations for Corcovado.
    2. Pay for the number of days of the visit into the park account at Banco Nacional. This can also be done in San Jose too, but the account number is needed. Remember that banks close at 4 and are not open on weekends.
    3. Present proof of payment to the tourist office in person or via fax and receive your entrance permit and the list of what services (number of meals, camping fee, room, etc.) you paid for at each station. Your reservation is confirmed and you can proceed to the park.
    4. Present documents at the park entry point (La Leona if walking along the beach from Carate or Los Patos via La Palma if walking across the Osa).
Room rates are1000c/per person/per night. (See current conversion rate)

What if you don't have reservations or want to extend your visit? Different stations have different policies on what to do if you show up without documents or if you want to extend your stay beyond the reservation.

La Leona - you are not allowed to continue on to Sirena nor to stay at La Leona without prior payment.
Los Patos - you may continue to Sirena with approval from Puerto Jimenez.
Sirena - permits staying extra days or asking for additional meals if there is room and if payment is made on site.
