About Army ROTC

Welcome to the Army Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) website at The University of Texas at Austin. Army ROTC is unlike any other college program: it combines academics, athletics and fraternity all in one.

Army ROTC offers courses in leadership, management and military history that will permit you to prepare yourself for commission as a second lieutenant while you take academic courses leading to a baccalaureate or advanced degree.

Athletically, you will be afforded the opportunity to get in the best shape in your life as you participate in our physical training program, play on our various intramural teams or test yourself further as a member of our 1st-place Ranger Challenge team.

As a member of  "The Band of Brothers," you will be part of America’s biggest fraternity — the US Army. Through a senior mentorship program, you will get a chance to network with our Longhorn Battalion Alumni who are present in all facets of our training and are a valuable asset to your development as a future leader.

Army ROTC in Austin dates back to September, 1947 and is rich in tradition and esprit de corps. Upon being commissioned a second lieutenant, each cadet has the opportunity to serve in the active Army, Army Reserve, or National Guard in one of 17 different career fields to include Adjutant General, Armor, Field Artillery, Air Defense Artillery, Finance, Infantry, Quartermaster, Medical Service, Transportation, Chemical, Ordnance, Military Intelligence, Military Police, Aviation, Signal, Nursing, and Engineer Corps.

Opportunities are limitless ... it is up to you. Apply for a full scholarship, serve your country, graduate with more than a degree. Challenge yourself in the most noble of professions — a US Army Officer!
