Cadre
The cadre of the Longhorn Battalion is among the finest in the nation. Members of the cadre have served in several major military operations including Operation Just Cause, Operation Desert Storm, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation Iraqi Freedom.
The cadre has a vast knowledge of experience in varied career fields to include Armor, Military Police, Infantry, Field Artillery, Signal, Military Intelligence, and Air Defense Artillery. Often, the cadre is assisted by visitors to help teach cadets current lessons in military science. Most visitors are career officers coming straight from deployments to impart wisdom and assist the cadre in developing Longhorn Battalion cadets into knowledgeable young second lieutenants.

Boris Robinson

Boris G. Robinson, originally from Newport News, VA was commissioned a 2LT in Infantry Branch from Christopher Newport University in Newport News, VA. LTC Robinson is currently a Counterintelligence officer who has served in various Infantry and Intelligence assignments at Ft Ord, CA, Korea and Fort Bragg, NC. In between Intelligence assignments, LTC Robinson served as a Psychological Operations Officer in Honduras and Kosovo. LTC Robinson attended the Marine Corps Command and Staff College at Quantico, Virginia and received a Master's degree in International Relations from Troy State University. His combat tours include serving as an enlisted soldier during Operation Urgent Fury in Grenada, Chief, Joint Intelligence Support Element in OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM-AFGHANISTAN and Director of Intelligence in OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM-PHILIPPINES.
LTC Robinson is married to the former Arlyn Castillo from Marina, CA and has three daughters Sara, Amanda and Amber, ages 17, 14 and 13 respectively.

Darrell J. Debish

Major Darrell J. Debish is from Austin, Texas. He is a former ROTC Cadet and a graduate of The University of Texas (Austin). He was commissioned a 2LT into the US Army from New Mexico Military Institute Roswell, NM. Major Debish is a Multifunctional Logistics Officer who has served in various assignments and duties in Texas, Germany, Singapore, and Kosovo. Major Debish is a graduate of Command and General Staff College.
Major Debish is married to Sara Clifton Debish of George West, Texas and has two daughters Tyler and Sierra.

Captain Stefan McFarland

Captain Stefan McFarland commissioned in the Army as an Armor Officer in 1999 with a Bachelor of Science degree in International and Strategic History from the United States Military Academy at West Point. Following completion of the Armor Officer Basic Course, CPT McFarland served as a tank platoon leader during Operation Joint Forge (SFOR 8) at Eagle Base, Bosnia; Battalion Support Platoon Leader, and Task Force Scout Platoon Leader in 4th Battalion, 64th Armored Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division (Mechanized) at Fort Stewart, Georgia. As the Scout Platoon Leader, CPT McFarland deployed as part of Operation Intrinsic Action to Kuwait and subsequently the liberation of Iraq during the initial months of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Upon return from Operation Iraqi Freedom, CPT McFarland completed the Infantry Captain’s Career Course at Fort Benning, Georgia and the Combined Arms Service and Staff School at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. CPT McFarland was then assigned as the S1 for the 1st Battalion, 67th Armored Regiment at Fort Hood, Texas where he also commanded Charlie Company, 1-67 AR from May 2005 to April 2007. As a Company Commander, CPT McFarland deployed to Operation Iraqi Freedom 05-07 from November 2005 to November 2006. CPT McFarland was then assigned to the University of Texas Army ROTC as an Associate Professor of Military Science in June 2007.
CPT McFarland’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal with “V” device and oak leaf cluster, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal with three oak leaf clusters, the Army Achievement Medal with oak leaf cluster, Presidential Unit Citation, the National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal, Global War on Terror Expedition Medal, Global War on Terror Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, and the NATO Medal. He is also awarded the Air Assault Badge and Combat Action Badge.
SFC Joshua Gamboa

Sergeant First Class Joshua E. Gamboa enlisted in the Army under the "Delayed Enlistment Program (DEP)" in 1997. After completing Basic and OSUT training at Ft. Benning, GA, SFC Gamboa attended the Basic Airborne Course and the Ranger Indoctrination Program (RIP) also located at Ft. Benning. After graduating RIP, SFC Gamboa was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, where he served for eight and a half years as an Ammo Bearer, Assistant Gunner, Gunner, Team Leader, and Squad Leader. During his time at 2nd Ranger Battalion, SFC Gamboa deployed five times in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and once in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. SFC Gamboa has been assigned as a Military Instructor here at The University of Texas at Austin for the Army ROTC program since June 10, 2005.
SFC Gamboa is a graduate of Basic and OSUT Infantry Training, the Basic Airborne Course, the Ranger Indoctrination Program, Ranger School, the Infantry Mortar leader Course, Special Operations Forces Jumpmaster Course, Level C High Risk S.E.R.E., the Primary Leadership Development Course, and the Basic Non-Commissioned Officer’s Course.
SFC Gamboa’s awards and decorations include the Combat Infantryman’s Badge, the Expert Infantryman’s Badge, Senior Parachutist Wings, Ranger Tab, Army Service Ribbon, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, Global War On Terrorism Service Medal, Global War On Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal, three Army Good Conduct Medals, four Army Achievement Medals, five Army Commendation Medals, and the Joint Service Commendation Medal.
