A Summary of the Major requirements in Ancient History and Classical Civilization

This major requires 33 hours (including 18 upper-division), there is no minor.

3 hours of Greek, Roman or pre-modern history and/or historiography approved by advisor. (A list of approved topics is available in the Department of Classics of approved HIS 350L/CC 348 topics.)

6 hours of pre-Modern history. (A list of approved topics is available in the Department of Classics.)

9 hours upper-division Greek and/or Roman history. (These must be courses offered through the history department (HIS), not Classical Civilization (C C) courses offered through the Department of Classics.)

6 hours of upper-division Greek or Latin.

9 hours of Classical Civilization (C C), Greek History (HIS), Roman History (HIS), Greek (GK), or Latin (LAT). (Courses used to fulfill the Area A foreign language requirement MAY NOT be used.)

A Summary of the Major requirements in Classical Civilization

This major requires 21 hours of course work, including 12 upper-division hours. A 12 hour minor in a field other than Latin, Greek, or Classical Civilization, including 6 hours of upper-division course work is required with this major.

6 hours of upper-division Latin courses.

6 hours of upper-division Greek courses.

6 hours of upper-division Classical Civilization courses.

3 hours of a Greek, Latin, or Classical Civilization course.
