Homeric Hymn to Demeter study questions

How is marriage represented in the Hymn? How does this representation compare or contrast with others that we have read?

How is the mother/daughter relationship represented by the Hymn? Are there any problems with this representation?

Does the Hymn seem to you to be directed towards a female audience? If so, how do you think that audience may have responded?

Foley (p. 73 in the reader) suggests that that Hymn's depiction of a 'conflict between genders' marks it as different from the Iliad and Odyssey. Do you agree?

Are there continuities between this text and those of Sappho?
