Fetch -- for WWW publishing

To place documents in your UNIX account, it is easiest to use Fetch (available on the Classics server; copy the Installer to your computer and double-click to install). For use by all who have IF (Individually Funded) or AJAF-stem UNIX account (UTS or CCWF) at the University.

*** When following these same procedures to store documents in your UNIX account for backup, please be sure that they are NOT in your public_html directory, but in a different directory on the same level as public_html. Anything in public_html can be accessed by others and should be considered published.***

Prepare your WWW materials.

Upload to public_html.

1. Launch Fetch. Double-click on the Fetch icon if on your computer; in the Lab, select Fetch from the Apple Menu --> Internet.

You will see a list of the files and folders in your public_html directory. Use the pull-down bar to change into a different folder, if necessary. Save the settings from the Customize Menu on your machine; to floppy if in the lab.

2. To UPLOAD your completed WWW page, go to the "Remote" menu and select "Put Folders and Files." Select the folder containing your text and images, press "Add" and then "Done." This will PUT the entire folder with contents into your public_html directory.

To upload a selection of items inside a folder, click on each item and then "Add." When finished, press "Done."
