The University of Texas at Austin/ICē Institute Business Forum was formed in the Spring of 1995 from the UT-Austin Entrepreneurs’ Council which was launched in 1991. The Business Forum was organized with the following goals in mind:

  • to serve rapidly growing middle-stage companies
  • to act as a catalyst and information resource for the Austin business community
  • to help companies improve business procedures, maximize their resources, and realize their business goals
  • to further develop Austin as a technology leader
  • to link growing companies with the University, professional service firms, peer companies, and government
  • to disseminate advances in technology and business

Business Forum activities include the following:

Executive Round Tables provide wide-ranging, interactive discussions on significant business issues. These round tables are for senior executives of Austin-based middle-stage and mature businesses and are designed to encourage discussion about relevant and current issues for these executives.

Business Forum Meetings let company executives take advantage of the expertise of selected corporate executives and other professionals from across the United States. Business Forum Meetings are based either on a panel discussion concerning issues facing the Austin business community (such as the January 1997 presentation on Attracting and Retaining Key Employees) or on a case-study format. In the case-study format, the Business Forum extends an invitation to the CEO of a local company to discuss specific business challenges addressed by that company. An invited panel of consultants and executives offers pertinent comments and suggestions. Emphasis in both presentation formats is on informal discussion, constructive comments and recommendations for improvement. The audience will have opportunities to offer questions or constructive ideas to the panel and the presenting CEO.

In addition to the above events, the Business Forum will be involved in various other special events which concern the local business community. The Business Forum extends an open invitation for membership and for its quarterly company presentations.
