Section 4.5: Information for the Web Developer

Coordinating Content Development with Web Development

For data tables, the content expert is likely the best person for (1) deciding whether a summary or additional description is needed for a table, (2) writing the summary or description, and (3) in some cases, clarifying when the content of a data cell represents a header for other content in the table.

As the developer and/or content provider, use the Spreadsheet for Data Tables to help in the development planning of accessible data tables. This spreadsheet is intended to be a tool for coordinating content development and Web development such as associating summaries and additional descriptions with data tables when needed.
