Artist Submission Guidelines
Eligibility
Any practicing professional, three-dimensional visual artist with a history of creating and executing large-scale outdoor works is eligible to apply. Priority will be given to artists working in the bronze medium.
Submission Guidelines
Artists who want to be considered must submit the following materials:
- A completed application form.
- Submissions should not be bound.
- Up to twenty 35mm slides of recent, relevant work, including images reflecting commemorative statues. Slides must be submitted in a 9"x11" plastic sheet. Each slide must be labeled with the artist's name, indication of the top of the slide and numbered in the order you wish to have them projected. Glass mounted slides will not be accepted. An applicant may send a CD containing up to 20 high resolution images of their work in lieu of slides.
- An annotated typewritten slide list on 8 1/2" x 11" paper, identifying slides by number and including title, date, medium, size (HxWxD) and a brief description of the work.
- A current biography/resume on 8 1/2" x 11" paper. A single copy of articles or other supplemental materials may be enclosed.
- An artist statement not to exceed one 8 1/2" x 11" page. The statement should reflect the artist's aesthetic and/or concept for this project and should include a site concept using the selected statue location as a guide.
- A visual concept of the artist's proposed design for the Barbara Jordan statue.
- A self-addressed, stamped envelope for the return of slides. Materials will not be returned without a self-addressed, stamped envelope.
- Artists are discouraged from submitting videotapes or numerous catalogues.

ORIGINAL WORKS OF THE ART AND PHOTOGRAPHS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED OR RETURNED WITHOUT SELF-ADDRESSED, STAMPED ENVELOPES OR PACKING MATERIALS. INCOMPLETE SUBMISSIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
Submission of application materials constitutes agreement to all the rules and guidelines of this competition, presented in their entirety in this document.
