What does a Student Administrative Assistant do?
- Help students make a successful adjustment to the University environment through programs and personal contact.
- Participate in training sessions and attend regularly scheduled meeting and activities.
- Staff the Gender and Sexuality Center office.
- Assist with putting up flyers around Campus to announce GSC events.
- Staff the GSC outreach table at events and along the West Mall.
- Assist in the planning and production of GSC events.
- Complete other job-related responsibilities as assigned.

What are the qualifications?
First and foremost, you must have a desire to work with the UT community on matters of gender, sexuality, and social equality. You must be a student with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5.
The basics:
You must be a currently enrolled student at UT Austin; exhibit strong written and oral communication and listening skills; display a professional demeanor; have patience and a positive attitude with office staff and the students you serve; and perform various office duties while working with computers in an office environment. Must have knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) applications.
What am I likely to do in a given day?
Your tasks on a given day will vary. Some days, you will be in direct contact with the UT community by staffing the GSC table at the West Mall, while other days, you will spend your time helping operate the GSC by working at the front desk and performing general office tasks. When the GSC has events, you will help with the organizing and planning of those events, while also helping staff and operate these events.
Is this a paid position?
Yes. You'll be paid 7.35 dollars per hour.

Student Program Assistant
What does a Student Program Assistant do?
- Serve as a liaison between guest speakers/presenters and the GSC.
- Plan and coordinate program logistics such as site reservations, equipment reservations, materials, catering, etc.
- Develop program publicity.
- Write press releases for events, thank you notes, and necessary follow-up correspondences around programs.
- Represent the GSC on designated program planning committees and provide the administrative support needed.
- Make initial contact with potential presenters to obtain program information and program cost.
- Plan and coordinate special programs.
- Attend designated programs to oversee the logistics and troubleshoot unforeseen problems.
- Conduct outreach.
