Information for Alumni
Thanks for visiting our web site. As community members, alumnae/alumni, and friends, we at the GSC want you to know that the center is for you, as well as for UT students, staff, and faculty. You are welcome in our center!
Our main purpose is to provide space for members of the UT community to explore and organize around issues of gender and sexuality. At the same time, our center also serves as a safe space for women at the University, as well as those who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender.
We encourage you to visit the center, which is located on the ground floor of the Student Services Building, and we are open Monday - Thursday, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. At the center, you can check out books and DVDs from our library, talk to a staff member about issues of gender/sexuality, and just hang out, if you like.
A special note for alumnae/alumni: If you are interested in being a part of a network of women and/or LGBTQ graduates of the University, please send your name and e-mail address to the GSC. There are plans for initial meetings and contact regarding these networks during the 2006-2007 school year.
Browse these web pages and e-mail us if you have any questions. Here are some highlights of our services you might enjoy:
- Please contact the GSC if you are interested in volunteering for any of our events or programs.
- Take a look at the services you can take advantage of. You can sign up for the GSC's e-bulletins to stay informed about campus and community events.
- The LGBTQA Speakers Bureau: Panelists consisting of UT students, faculty, staff, parents, and members of the Austin community who identify as LGBT or consider themselves a heterosexual ally create a dialogue about LGBT issues through a panel discussion. As an alum or member of the Austin community, you can apply to join the Speakers Bureau. Return completed applications and request forms to the GSC, located in the Student Services Building, or by email.
- If you are interested in supporting the work of the GSC, you might consider donating to the center. In addition to volunteering your time and talents, the GSC also accepts monetary donations. Call or e-mail us for more information.
