Community Engagement centers on promotion and coordination of services for communities historically underserved by the university and encompasses several areas.

Dr. Wanda L. Nelson

The Pre-College Youth Development and Student Academic Success Initiatives portfolio focuses on partnering with target schools to promote college attendance for underrepresented students in Texas. Students are identified at the elementary school level and receive academic preparation as well as non-cognitive support through high school graduation to facilitate their enrollment in an institution of higher education. SDI assists students enrolled at UT to matriculate, succeed academically, graduate, and pursue post-baccalaureate degrees.

Dr. Angela Valenzuela

Founded in 2006, the Texas Center for Education Policy builds upon the University of Texas at Austin’s tradition of distinguished scholarship, and is committed to broadening research on equity and excellence in PK-16 education. The Center promotes interdisciplinary and collaborative research, analysis, and dissemination of information to impact the development of educational policy through the establishment of partnerships with local, state, national and international education communities.

Ms. Linda Millstone

The job of Equal Opportunity Services (EOS), established in 1973, is to ensure fulfillment of the intent and spirit of equal opportunity laws, although they are not affiliated with the federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Among a host of services, EOS investigates allegations, seeks equitable resolutions to complaints , provides confidential counseling, offers resources, and serves as a liaison with community action organizations and agencies.
