Achieving College Excellence (ACE)
ACE is an academic support program for students requiring additional assistance to meet their educational goals. ACE provides academic support through tutorial services, academic workshops peer advising and graduate school preparation. The ACE Program staff is committed to guiding students to the campus resources that meet their needs and to encouraging students to reach their highest potential.
Who is eligible to participate in ACE?
Students from any of the nine schools or colleges at UT are eligible to apply to the ACE program. However, strong consideration is given to first generation college students and students who come from economically challenged backgrounds.
What Are the Program's Components?
Services include, but are not limited to, the following program components:

Tutoring Services
The ACE Program provides tutoring for students who would like to enhance their academic performance. Students enrolled in the ACE Program are eligible for 10 hours of free individual tutorial through the UT Learning Center (UTLC). Tutoring is available in a variety of academic subject areas including accounting, biology, chemistry, computer science, economics, engineering, French, mathematics, philosophy, physics, Spanish, and statistics. Tutoring Requirements
To access tutoring services, you must register with a member of the ACE staff. You must also attend at least one ACE workshop the semester you sign up for services. However, you are encouraged to attend more than one! Notification of workshops is sent via e-mail and you MUST RSVP to attend, as seating is limited.

The ACE Program provides a number of workshops designed to enhance study skills and areas of personal development. These workshops are extremely beneficial to students and cover a variety of topics including, but not limited to:
- Time Management
- Stress Reduction
- Note-taking Skills
- Test-taking Skills
- Choosing a Major
- Navigating UT
- Goal-setting
- Motivation
- Study Skills
- Critical Thinking, Problem-Solving, & Decision-Making Skills

Graduate School Preparation Workshops
Grad Prep strives to foster awareness of the opportunities afforded by graduate or professional study and to provide strategic information on applying to graduate school. As with other ACE workshops, you will be notified via e-mail and must RSVP to attend. Workshop topics may include:
- Deciding to attend graduate school
- Choosing schools for application
- Graduate school admissions process
- Financing your graduate education
- Writing an effective personal statement
- Graduate entrance exams
- Completing and submitting a competitive application
