Resources/Workshops Available On Campus

Get off to a great start this semester and make arrangements to check out one or more of the workshop offerings from the departments and centers listed below. We have compiled a list of campus resources that offer academic workshops related to time management, study skills, career development, writing , and test-taking. Times and dates are on the associated Web links. Don't wait—it will be a great way to get started this fall!

Career and Exploration Center (CEC)

CEC provides information on all aspects of seeking an appropriate career on a drop-in basis or by appointment. Further, they offer a wonderful resource library covering anything from writing resumes to finding an internship. CEC is your source for:

Counseling and Mental Health Center (CMHC)

CMHC helps students with their personal concerns so that they can meet the daily challenges of student life. They offer individual, group and psychiatric services.

Undergraduate Writing Center (UWC)

UWC provides individual and professional advice on all aspects of writing to UT undergraduates on a drop-in basis or by appointment. They also offer an online service, VIRGIL, which may be helpful for those students writing papers at 2 a.m.

University of Texas Learning Center (UTLC)

UTLC provides a range of services designed to enhance both individual learning and in-class performance and is committed to helping you achieve success in your scholastic endeavors. UTLC offers free classes to current students. These include:

  • Secrets of Academic Success
  • Speed Reading
  • GRE Verbal, Writing, Reading, Math
  • Speak Easy (ESL)
  • Speaking English Clearly (ESL) (Additional fee required for this class)

A variety of Natural Sciences classes reviews are on their schedule. They also offer an online Study Strategy course titled "Making the Grade".

Don't forget that you may drop in or schedule an appointment at UTLC for:

  • Tutoring
  • Academic counseling
  • Screenings for ADHD and Learning Disabilities
  • Peer coaching
