About the VSLC

The Volunteer and Service Learning Center serves as a catalyst for the advancement of civic responsibility, community action, and social change.

The VSLC began in 1991 as a program of the Office of Campus and Community Involvement, within the Office of the Dean of Students (DoS).  In 1998, following an approved funding and expansion proposal, The University Volunteer Center was created as its own office within DoS.  With the addition of academic service learning in 2002, the name was changed to The Volunteer and Service Learning Center to reflect the scope of the services that were offered.

Currently, the VSLC offers programs both inside and outside the classroom, for students, faculty, and staff of the university.  The center strives to be the central resource on campus for volunteerism, service learning, and community engagement resources.
