Directive Blogs Community Engagement CollaborativeVSLC • AmeriCorps VISTA ProgramThe Community Engagement Collaborative (CEC) is designed to make transparent all UT community engagement efforts by compiling an inventory of resources, then working to create dialogue and collaboration plans among various community and campus resources focused on specific community issues. Inspired by the recommendations from the Commission of 125, the CEC seeks to support a disciplined culture of excellence by “marshaling its expertise, programs, and people to address major issues confronting society at large” through the development and organization of campus and community collaborations to focus on major issues facing Austin and Texas. The Collaborative works through ten directives focused on specific topics. Topics were chosen based on an analysis of the most requested issues for campus involvement. AmeriCorps VISTA’s publish community engagement resources through blogs on the various topics. Each blog attempts to inventory the various types of UT community engagement resources as well as information on community support, nonprofits and networks. Information on various collaborative initiatives will be highlighted in the blogs. Links to the blogs are on the right side of this page. The CEC is a first-of-its-kind program at a college or university designed to identify and catalog the various ways that the university and the community organize around specific societal issues. The CEC was established by the Volunteer & Service Learning Center and funded by the Corporation for National and Community Service, the Student Services Budget Committee, and the Division of Diversity and Community Engagement.
