International Service Learning Spotlight - Ghana

Maymester in Ghana, West Africa provides an opportunity for undergraduate and graduate students to participate in coursework on community and social development while engaging in service projects with local agencies and communities.

There are currently 39 students attending classes, volunteering, and exploring Ghana (May 29 to July ).  Students prepared for the course in a one-hour credit course during Spring 2009.  Service Projects include working with women of low-income about prenatal, providing services for children who were formally homeless, and working with local companies to help improve air quality.  Maymester in Ghana is a collaboration of faculty members in the School of Social Work, the Warfield Center for African and African American Studies, the Volunteer and Service Learning Center.

Follow students as they go through this amazing experience through student blogs.
