National Conference on Civic Engagement

The University of Texas at Austin will be co-hosting with Texas Campus Compact the inaugural National Conference on Civic Engagement, from February 15th thru February 18th of 2007. The conference, titled "Creating Agents for Change: Improving Communities Through Faculty and Student Leadership", will be held at the Sheraton Austin Hotel in downtown Austin.

The mission of the conference is to explore the relationship between higher education and our communities, and to promote an open discussion about the vital role higher education will play in dealing with current and future social issues. Attendees will participate in a wide range of exciting workshops, experience an array of dynamic speakers, and network with peers from across the state and around the world.

Thanks to funding from the Office of the Provost, attendance is free for UT Austin faculty, staff, and students.

For registration information, contact Glen Baumgart, Director of the Volunteer and Service Learning Center.

As an institution, UT Austin is proud to be part of a growing community of colleges and universities committed to the principles of civic engagement and service learning, and we hope that the members of our campus community take advantage of this unique opportunity.

Any questions regarding this event can be addressed to Glen Baumgart, Director of the Volunteer and Service Learning Center, 471-6161.
