About the SVB

Our Vision

The UT Student Volunteer Board is committed to developing individuals who give themselves to the community through service. With our projects, we hope to:

  • assist Austin area agencies with the support of well-trained student volunteers
  • appeal to every student at the University of Texas at Austin to become a volunteer
  • promote collaboration between higher education institutions and public and private community agencies
  • celebrate those individuals who excel in the art of volunteerism
  • continuously evaluate each of our programs for improvement

Structure of the SVB

The UT Student Volunteer Board events and programs are divided into three areas of service: Youth & Education, Campus Awareness, and Community. This division facilitates planning and cooperation among the different programs.

Youth & Education Service Programs target AISD students K-12 in need of mentoring, tutoring, or other type of service. Currently, the programs work with several area elementary, middle, and high schools.

Campus Awareness and Service Programs work directly with the UT student community to increase awareness about issues such as AIDS, volunteerism, and world hunger, allowing the students to come into contact with various volunteer opportunities in the Austin area.

Community Service Programs provide volunteer assistance to several local and non-local agencies, such as senior centers and homeless shelters.
