OCTOBER

Hearts of Texas  – Each October, DDCE coordinates The Hearts of Texas Charitable Campaign, which is The University of Texas at Austin's participation in the State Employee Charitable Campaign.

MACC Community Awards Event – The Office of the President and the DDCE honor Hispanic Community Leadership in an awards ceremony at the Mexican American Cultural Center. Award recipients are those who have increased awareness of Hispanic life in Central Texas and have worked to preserve its history and culture.

Campus Fusion – Since 2003, Campus Fusion has been a week-long student celebration that includes events, performances, and discussions around the issues of diversity, race, and culture.
 
DECEMBER

Carver Museum Community Awards Event – The Office of the President and the DDCE honor inspiring individuals and organizations dedicated to achieving social justice and equality in the Austin area.
 
FEBRUARY

Abriendo Brecha Activist Scholarship Conference – An annual event at The University of Texas at Austin that focuses on research and creative intellectual work in alignment with communities, organizations, movements and networks working for social justice.

APRIL

Heman Sweatt Symposium on Civil Rights
– This symposium, named after Heman Sweatt, the first African American admitted to the UT Law School, has been held annually since 1986. It is organized by students, faculty, and staff at The University of Texas at Austin and examines issues related to race, equity, and social justice.

Barbara Jordan Historical Essay Competition
– All Texas high school students are invited to participate in this annual essay competition that has as its theme, “African Americans in Texas: Past and Present.” Scholarships are awarded to the winning essayists.

Barbara Jordan Statue Unveiling – After seven years of planning, fundraising, and creation, the first statue at The University of Texas at Austin honoring a female public figure will be unveiled on April 24, 2009.
 
MAY

Celebration of Excellence – This reception honors graduating students who are affiliated with the Division of Diversity and Community Engagement.
