Martinez, Breithaupt Receive Associate Vice President Appointments
Dr. Octavio N. Martinez Jr., executive director of the Hogg Foundation for Mental Health and clinical professor in the School of Social Work, and Dr. Charles Breithaupt, executive director of the University Interscholastic League (UIL), have been appointed associate vice presidents for diversity and community engagement at The University of Texas at Austin.
Dr. Gregory J. Vincent, vice president for diversity and community engagement, said, "Dr. Martinez and Dr. Breithaupt are remarkable leaders for two of the Division of Diversity and Community Engagement's largest units. We wanted to recognize their outstanding work within the division. Both are dedicated to the university's mission of service and have made innumerable contributions to the university's work with communities throughout the state and serving the people of Texas." |

Dr. Vincent to Receive Lifetime Achievement Award from PVILCA
Gregory J. Vincent, vice president for diversity and community engagement at The University of Texas at Austin, will receive an honorary Prairie View Interscholastic League Coaches Association (PVILCA) Lifetime Achievement Award for his outstanding work in helping to preserve the history of the organization and its members. |

Students Institute for the Gifted Now Accepting Applications
The Summer Institute for the Gifted (SIG) sponsored by the Division of Diversity and Community Engagement is now accepting applications for its 2011 residential and day programs at The University of Texas at Austin. Programs will be offered for students ages 6 to 17. SIG programs have provided a unique curriculum for gifted children for more than 26 years, a connection with peers, and a safe and secure learning environment. |

Hogg Foundation Gives Dissertation Awards to Two UT Austin Grad Students
Two doctoral students at The University of Texas at Austin have received awards from the Hogg Foundation for Mental Health to assist in their academic research.
Tierney Ahrold Lorenz of Austin and Katherine Sanchez of Dallas each received the Francis Fowler Wallace Memorial Dissertation Award, which awards up to $1,500 to students conducting dissertation research related to mental health. |
