Intelligent Mail Barcode (IMB)
The United States Postal Service (USPS) has issued a requirement that all Courtesy and Business Reply Mail (BRM) pieces must contain the new Intelligent Mail Barcode (IMB), which is effective as of May 2011.
UT Mail Services urge all customers to plan ahead by ordering new reply envelopes with the new IMB. This applies to all departments using the format below:
Attn: Line 2
The University of Texas at Austin
P.O. Box 7727
Austin, Texas 78713-xxx
Customers who do not utilize the IMB after May 2011 will experience delays in delivery and higher postage charges. Failure to meet the requirement will also disqualify the ability to claim automated discount rates on bulk mailings.
UT Mail Services will create artwork to meet this new USPS requirement for a nominal fee of $18.75. We can produce camera-ready artwork or a PDF file for any department in need of an IMB mail piece design. If you have questions regarding this new requirement: please contact us via e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org or consult a Customer Service Representative.
