The Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) is a system of surveys designed and maintained by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES). The IPEDS system is built around a series of interrelated surveys, which collect institution-level data in areas including enrollments, program completions, graduation rates, faculty, staff, finances, institutional prices, and student financial aid.

The Office of Institutional Reporting, Research, and Information Systems (IRRIS) coordinates the collection of data each year to produce UT Austin's IPEDS reports. IRRIS partners with Human Resources to create the institution's Human Resources Report which consists of the following three sections: Employees by Assigned Position (EAP), Salaries (if applicable), and Fall Staff.
