Office for Inclusion and Equity (OIE) staff provide educational initiatives to University faculty, staff, and students to support diversity, inclusiveness, equal access, equitable treatment, cultural understanding, and the prevention of prohibited discrimination and harassment. OIE facilitates and supports the University’s efforts to ensure equal opportunity for all persons regardless of age, citizenship, color, disability, gender, gender expression, gender identity, medical condition, national origin, race, religion, sexual orientation, and veteran status in employment, educational programs and activities, and admissions.

To build awareness within the University community, the Office for Inclusion and Equity provides:

  • Information, consultation, training and resources to the University community with regard to diversity, harassment and discrimination prevention, affirmative action, equal opportunity, and disability matters

  • Individual consultation with University managers, supervisors, staff, faculty, students, and administrators

  • The Inclusive Classrooms Leadership Seminar, which engages faculty, assistant instructors, and teaching assistants in discussions about strategies for creating and sustaining an inclusive classroom climate

  • Support to academic deans, department chairs, search committee chairs, and search committee members for conducting inclusive faculty search and recruitment processes in partnership with the Senior Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs

  • Educational initiatives for campus community members that foster a climate of inclusiveness, in partnership with Diversity Education Initiatives
