Honors Day 2009

HONORS STUDENT INFORMATION

Invitations

University-Wide Ceremonies:

Students who meet the criteria and are designated as Distinguished College Scholars or College Scholars for the 2008-2009 academic year, will receive an e-mail invitation from President Powers to one of two university-wide  ceremonies at Bass Concert Hall.

Information included in the e-mail will detail how to:

       *       RSVP for the university-wide ceremony;
       *       send an invitation to family;
       *       send an invitation to a faculty mentor.

Students who believe they are qualified to participate in the program but have not received an invitation by e-mail should contact their academic adviser.  E-mail notification should be received by mid-March.

College and School Ceremonies:

Separate notification will be sent to qualified students regarding additional ceremonies hosted by their academic deans.  These ceremonies are designed to recognize students at a college or school level.  Questions regarding these ceremonies should be directed to the appropriate college or school representative.

Honors Cords and Medallions

Honors Cords

At the university ceremony, student scholars will receive honors cords in recognition of their achievements. Cords will be worn at Honors Day as well as future academic ceremonies, including Commencement. Please note that honors cords can only be guaranteed to students who attend their Bass Concert Hall ceremony on April 4.

Honors cords are generously provided to student scholars by the University Co-op as representations of its commitment to academic excellence at The University of Texas at Austin.

Medallions

Students designated as Distinguished College Scholars will also receive medallions in recognition of their distinctive accomplishments. Medallions will be presented individually by academic deans and can be worn at Honors Day as well as future academic ceremonies, including Commencement. Please note that medallions can only be guaranteed to students who attend their Bass Concert Hall ceremony.
