In its 124 years, UT has grown into one of the world’s great research universities. We can be extraordinarily proud of our success this past year. We continue to excel in teaching and research. We continue to excel in the very top tier of research universities. We remain poised to become the great public university of our time. But we won’t get there unless we openly confront our financial challenges. We won’t get there without focus, discipline and courage. And we can’t wait for others to help us. We must do it ourselves. Together, we can succeed, if we have the discipline, the focus and the fortitude.
