The tradition of the "UTexas@" program began in 1998 and has taken place annually in conjunction with the date when the university first opened its doors to students on September 15, 1883.   As a part of the "UTexas@115" program in 1998, Larry R. Faulkner was installed as the 27th president of The University of Texas at Austin and delivered his first State of the University Address.

The 2006 celebration, "The University at 123," was the occasion at which William Powers Jr. was installed as the 28th president of The University of Texas at Austin and delivered his Inaugural Address on the State of the University.  President Powers continues the annual tradition of presenting a public assessment on the progress of the institution with the 2008 President's State of the University Address.
