Historical Quotations

To those familiar with e-mail, the "postal service" of the internet, the "at" sign (@) is a common symbol. Its role is pivotal in linking the individual with the vast expanses of the internet. This emblem literally gives direction to all electronic communication, telling where each entity is "at" within the e-mail address system. It is the symbol which connects the individual to the local community, the state, and the world, giving each person a "home address" in the cybernetic universe. "utexas" is the corresponding code recognized world-wide for all those whose electronic "home address" is The University of Texas at Austin.
