A three-week observance of UT's 115th birthday
gets underway today.
Please join the festivities including birthday cake...remarks by
President Faulkner...Texas flag...sing "Happy Birthday, UT!"
Sponsored by the Student Chapter of the Ex-Students' Association.
A special feature will be the introduction of the ceremonial mace, a
staff symbolizing academic authority or office. Rolando
Hinojosa-Smith, Marshal of The University, will present the mace that will
travel among UT's core constituencies and be displayed in significant
campus locations, leading to anniversary events on Tuesday,
October 6th.
Birthdays invite us to reflect on the past and to ponder the future. In the UTexas@115 Symposium, UT faculty and alumni will trace the trajectories of UTs present into UTs future as they consider what kind of university The University of Texas at Austin will be at its Sesquicentennial in 2033.
