How do I report a facility-type emergency?

Call the Facilities Service Center at 512-471-2020.

If a repair is necessary, regardless of the size or expense, to protect life, safety or property, please place the call immediately to the Facilities Service Center at 512-471-2020.

Some examples of situations that need immediate attention: running water, flooding, standing water/liquid on the floor, raw sewage spills, overflowing toilets, backed up drains, and shattered windows.

How do I request a repair or service from Facilities Services?

There are two options to request a repair or service:

  1. Complete a web request form - WORQS
  2. Contact the Facilities Service Center at 512-471-2020

What is the difference between a Service Request and a Maintenance Request?

A maintenance request (also known as a trouble ticket) is generally completed for maintenance/repair of building and systems including heating, air conditioning, ventilating, electrical, plumbing, and other building systems, equipment installed as integral parts of the building, maintenance and repair of walks, lawns, trees and shrubs in general fund supported areas.

A service request is generally completed for departmental equipment and special departmental equipment, installation of items such as pictures, wall brackets, fabrication of shelves and equipment, custodial services requested outside of the schedule such as waxing a floor, or special trash collection, minor renovation, conversions of spaces, etc. Typically, an account number must be provided for work to be scheduled.

How do I get the status on a maintenance request?

There are several options: 

  1. Check the status by accessing the “Requestor Profile” page in WORQS
  2. Contact the Facilities Service Center by calling 512-471-2020, or by emailing facilities@austin.utexas.edu.

What repairs and services are not billable to my department?

General funds are used to maintain and repair campus buildings (exterior and interior) including structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection systems for educational and general purpose buildings and rooms/office areas. Not included would be residence halls, most athletic and auxiliary facilities. 

What repairs and services are billable to my department?

Departments are charged for discretionary requests for services that involve non-routine work, building alterations, renovations, improvements, additional services, and requests that are outside the scheduled routine.

Who maintains the temperature in my building or room?

Facilities Operations monitors building and room temperatures. If you have an issue with a too hot or too cold room or building, please report the problem as soon as possible.

I am planning an event. How do I request event support?

To request services or rental items for an event, there are several options:

  2. Complete and submit an Event Planning Request form online.
  3. Complete a Service Request Form SR10.

How do I request renovations or construction work?

You have four options to request construction work:

  1. Complete a web request form - WORQS (CRIB request – WRR - estimate)
  2. Complete a web request form - WORQS (CRIB request – WRP – proceed with work)
  3. Complete and fax a Service Request Form SR10 (pdf) to 512-471-8788. On the J. J. Pickle Research Campus (PRC), you may complete and fax a Work Request Form to 512-475-8167.
