How to get a gas card
On the main campus:
- You can get a gas card from Fleet Management, located in FC6 1.102. Phone: 512-475-6522. Office hours: 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday.
- If you need a gas card for traveling, you can obtain a ComData card from Fleet Management in FC6 1.102, or by calling 512-471-4668.
On the Pickle Research Campus:
- You can get a gas card by calling Amy Morkus at 512-471-3601. Call between 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. on weekdays.
- If you need a gas card for traveling, call Glenda Wagner at 512-471-1500.
Effective January 20, 2009, management of the university's Automotive Shops has moved to the Fleet Management section of Parking and Transportation Services. There will be no fee changes for the remainder of the fiscal year, and the Auto Shops will remain at their current locations on Manor Road and at PRC. Shop Supervisor Carl Bottoms can be reached at 471-4505.
Automotive Services provide the following for university vehicles:
- Gas cards
- Self-service gasoline pumps with unleaded, propane, and diesel (environmentally friendly B20 biodiesel) fuels
- Self-service car wash facilities
- Repairs performed by Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certified Technicians
- Licensed Texas Vehicle Inspection station
- Texas Railroad Commission certified alternative fuels conversion and repairs shop

Where to use your gas card:
You can use your gas card at the pumps on Manor Road or the Pickle Research Campus. The gas card will not work at any other gas stations. When traveling, you can use a ComData card from Fleet Management.
Who to contact if your university vehicle breaks down:
Call the Automotive Shop at 512-471-4668 between the hours of 7:30 a.m.-4 p.m. We will either go check out your vehicle, or contact a wrecker depending on the severity of the problems.
If you work on the Pickle Research Campus, call 512-471-1352 between the hours of 7:30 a.m.-4 p.m.
What to do if your university vehicle breaks down after hours or on weekends:
Call Tiger Trux at 512-989-9595, and they will tow your vehicle to the Automotive Shop at 1500 Manor Road.
Parts and batteries
When you bring your university vehicle to us, we will obtain the needed parts and fix your vehicle for you. The Automotive Shop cannot order parts or loan tools for you to repair university or personal vehicles.
The Automotive Shop encourages you to recycle old car batteries, but we are not authorized to accept batteries from personal vehicles to recycle. To recycle vehicle batteries, take the battery to the supplier from whom you purchased it or take the battery to the City of Austin Household Hazardous Waste Collection Center.
