RESOURCE: Desirable Tree Species List
Refer to this document to find out which tree species are designated as "desirable" on The University of Texas at Austin campus.
Facilities Services and the City of Austin are collaborating on a pilot to study the amount of water used in landscape irrigation systems. For the pilot, we will water as the recently-installed irrigation system is intended to perform rather than adhering to the City’s watering restrictions. Facilities Services appreciates your understanding if you notice the irrigation system operating on a schedule outside the city’s Stage 2 schedule. Read Daily Texan article about the system and the pilot.
Ants Are No Picnic
Pest Control technicians use several approaches to addressing ant infestations, including collaborating with the Texas AgriLife Extension Service to test effectiveness of treating the outdoor perimeter of some buildings. Personal offices with significant infestation are top priority for treatment.
Help reduce the ant population: remove food sources from interior spaces, rinse soda and juice containers, report indoor water leaks, and report places where ants may be entering the building. Report problems related to ants to Landscape Services at 471-6888 during business hours, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
