Sustaining by Renewing

Facilities Services restores and renews materials, equipment and other university resources so that their useful life can be extended.

• The Furniture Shop rebuilds, refinishes and reupholsters hundreds of furniture items each year.
• Automotive Services rebuilds parts whenever possible instead of buying new replacements.
• Facilities Maintenance Renovation & Renewal (R&R) is tasked with assessing and renewing building systems to keep the buildings functional. R&R includes projects with an energy-saving focus, such as upgrading air handlers, doors, and chiller pumps.
• R&R is also assigned to renew infrastructure such as roadways, sidewalks, and landscaping to support or enhance the lifespan of buildings and help ensure accessibility.
