Golf Tournament at Star Ranch Golf Club

Join your favorite TAPPA members and vendors in a "scramble shot gun" golf tournament at the Star Ranch Golf Club! Campus Tours

Monday, April 28

The following tours of the University of Texas at Austin campus will take place the afternoon of Monday, April 28, and will be available to all conference participants.  Tours will depart from the Business Partners’ Fair at the Frank Erwin Center.

Participants will be admitted on a tour based on space availability.  Once tour capacity is reached, conference attendees will be given the opportunity to go on one of the other tours offered

AT&T Executive Education and Conference Center (Tour Capacity – 50)

Soon to become the facility of choice for large executive programs, intimate meetings, and professional conferences, the AT&T Executive Education and Conference Center is preparing to open in August 2008. You will get a sneak peek at the center's four-tiered classrooms, eight breakout and case study rooms, three conference areas of various sizes, 300-seat amphitheater, 800-seat ballroom, and boardroom.

Campus Architecture (Tour Capacity – 50)

Enjoy a leisurely walking tour and experience great architecture that captures Spanish Mediterranean style core campus.

Hal C. Weaver Power Plant /CHW #6 (Tour Capacity – 50)

Take a behind-the-scenes tour of the largest combined heat and power plant of any university in the nation. The 85 megawatt power plant provides the campus with electricity, steam, compressed air, and purified water.

Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium (Tour Capacity – 50)

Tour the Moncrief/Neuhaus Athletic Center at the south end of the stadium. Expanded and improved, the state-of-the art facility was completely redone to include coaches’ offices, a players’ lounge and academic center and a trophy room plus totally renovated strength training area.  Also tour a stadium luxury suite.  Construction is currently taking place at the north end of the stadium. Once the project is complete, seating capacity will rise from 85,123 to more than 90,000.

Landscape/Campus Forestry (Tour Capacity – 50)

Enjoy a walking tour of the central campus area with a strong emphasis on the campus forestry program. Observe a cutting edge technology used to improve growing conditions on trees in an urban setting and view large trees in the process of being relocated due to a current construction project.

Facilities Compound (Tour Capacity – 50)

Visit Facilities Services and Project Management and Constructions Services, and witness shop operations. This tour will include looks at the carpenter shop, cabinet shop, general construction, plumbing, automotive shop, furniture shop, transportation, central stores, sheet metal shop, greenhouses and more.

LBJ Presidential Library (Tour Capacity – 50)

Lyndon Baines Johnson Memorial Library and Museum is one of eleven presidential libraries administered by the National Archives and Records Administration. At the library, you will have the opportunity to view permanent historical and cultural exhibits as well as take an exclusive tour of the facility.

Facilities Services Custodial Team Cleaning (Tour Capacity - 20)

Observe the award-winning training program and learn about the team cleaning approach used at the university.

Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center

In addition to golf on Sunday, we are offering an optional tour of the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center for TAPPA participants and their guests. In the Wildflower Center, you will walk among North America's native flora and natural landscapes, and see the nation's largest rainwater collection and storage system. You will also learn about the history and mission of the Wildflower Center and the legacy of Lady Bird Johnson in a guided walking tour. Cost: $25 per person (price includes lunch.)

Monday, April 28

Texas Capitol Tour

Take a guided tour of the historic Texas Capitol, followed by lunch and an afternoon of exploring Austin. There are no structured activities after lunch, so you will be free to enjoy Austin at your own pace. You may choose to take in attractions near the Texas Capitol, such as The Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum or the Harry Ransom Center, or you may elect to venture to other sites in the Live Music Capital of the World. Cost: $10 per person (to give you flexibility, this price covers transportation only-admission to the Texas State Capitol is free).

Quaint Historic Towns Tour

Step back in time as we take a trip to the delightful towns of Gruene and Wimberley, Texas. These towns are nestled between Austin and San Antonio, and offer pleasant surroundings and eclectic shopping with an authentic Texas flavor. For lunch, we'll dine at the Gristmill River Restaurant and Bar in the Gruene historic district. We encourage you to join us for this charming distraction from all the hustle and bustle of daily life! Cost: $35 per person (price includes lunch).
