WITH HONORS IN ASIAN STUDIES IN THE COLLEGE OF LIBERAL ARTS CHAPTER OF
THE UNDERGRADUATE CATALOG, 1998-2000, OF THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS
AT AUSTIN
On page 241, in the Liberal Arts chapter
of The Undergraduate Catalog, 1998-2000, in the section "ACADEMIC
POLICIES AND PROCEDURES," subsection "DEPARTMENTAL HONORS PROGRAMS," make
the following changes: Asian Studies Honors Program
Majors who wish to qualify for special honors in Asian
studies should apply to the undergraduate adviser for admission to the
honors program before their senior year. A University grade point average
of at least 3.00 is required for admission to the honors program. The
[R]requirements for graduation with special honors
are (1) Asian Studies 378, Senior Seminar in Asian Studies, with
a grade of at least B; (2) Asian Studies 379H, Honors Tutorial
Course, with a grade of A; [in which the student
must present a thesis judged acceptable for honors; (3) satisfactory performance
on an oral or written examination centered on the honors thesis; (4)]
(3) a University grade point average of at least 3.00 and a grade
point average in Asian studies of at least 3.50; and [(5)]
(4) completion at the University of at least sixty semester hours
of coursework counted toward the degree.
Rationale:
Specify the grade deemed "acceptable" for completing the requirements
of ANS 379H, and delete the requirement of an oral or written examination.
