PROPOSED CHANGE IN THE SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS FOR
THE SCHOOL OF MUSIC IN THE COLLEGE OF FINE ARTS
CHAPTER OF THE UNDERGRADUATE CATALOG, 1998-2000

On page 197 of the College of Fine Arts section of The Undergraduate Catalog, 1998-2000, make the following change in the special requirements for the School of Music.

RECITAL REQUIREMENT FOR MUSIC STUDIES MAJORS

[A student majoring in music studies must make one recital appearance during the last semester of study on the principal instrument.] Before the end of his or her last semester of study on the principal instrument, a music studies major must present either a performance certificate recital (described on page 196) or a community performance approved by the music studies faculty and the student's instructor in the principal instrument.

Justification:

To provide a requirement that better supports the instructional needs of the music studies program and that is more compatible with the curriculum structure of the program.
